Liverpool carries out road gritting on stand by for 20
weeks each year, starting in November and responding to
an ice hazard affecting the road network within 3 hours
of a decision to grit.
Over 400kms of roads
are gritted on each event, with over 30 % of the network
covered which is above the average for this type of
maintenance.
